PARTNERS

See IT in Action is organised and supported by partners from across the local government sector, all of whom have been directly involved in the design and delivery of some of the transformational projects being demonstrated at the event:

Email and the internet are transforming the lives of millions or people, yet one group of citizens are falling behind. Out of the 10 million people in the UK who have never used the internet, 65% are over 65.

So the Government launched Get Digital to enable more over-65's to log-on. The programme, which runs until March 2011, directs cash (£2.8m) and training into sheltered housing schemes.

The money buys equipment (computers, printers, digital cameras, WII's etc.) for shared use in the communal rooms at the sheltered housing scheme.

The significant training helps residents make good use of that equipment, and through structured workshops the delivery team help the residents plan for continued use and further learning.

esd toolkit

esd-toolkit’s objective is to support  local authorities and partners in collaborating to increase productivity and improve social well-being in their localities.

The esd-toolkit programme is governed and supported by an enthusiastic community of users and partners from across the public sector. Since 2002 the community has built up a set of tools, guidance, standards and knowledge, in disciplines that include customer insight, service delivery modelling, costing analysis and information management.

esd-toolkit will be launching a NEW framework of tools at the See IT in Action event - these tools will support local authoriites and their partners develop innovative solutions and models to improve service delivery whilst realising significant savings and evidencing true value for money.
